The cake is a uniquely challenging part of planning any wedding. Not only does it have to look wonderful, but it has to taste great too.
To help you make you pick the perfect cake, use these tips and tricks:

Picture it! Look at plenty of pictures of cakes in magazines and on the web. You’ll want to have some good ideas before you talk to a cake baker. See what options they offer to personalize the cake to fit your style, including the cake topper.
Ask for references. There are few days as important as your wedding day and your cake is one of the first things your guests will see. Don’t take a chance. Be certain you’ve got the right cake baker by asking for references.
Book well in advance. The best bakers are booked up well in advance. Be sure to book your cake at least 6 months prior to your wedding.
Taste is important too. Your cake needs to look good, sure, but remember that your guests are actually going to eat it too. Pick a delicious cake flavor and make sure your colors are edible, not just picked to match your wedding colors.

This season, a popular color scheme for weddings is the classic palette of black and white. Our black and white favor favorites are sure to leave a lasting impression on your guests.

Designer Soaps
Fragrant, pretty and practical, designer soaps are a lovely favor for bridal showers or weddings. For this look, three small square bars of designer soap are individually wrapped in black and white damask-patterned tissue paper. Using double-sided tape, the soaps are adhered to one another in a neat stack and then wrapped with a black satin ribbon, tied in a bow. To complete the look, a tiny rosette attached to wire is delicately wrapped around the bow.

Designer soaps can be purchased at a variety of stores, including Crabtree & Evelyn or Bath and Body Works or even your favorite drug store brand will also work. All wrapping materials can be bought at local arts and crafts stores.

Elegant Candy Box
Who doesn’t like something sweet? Whatever candy you choose to fill your box with is sure to please your guests when presented in this elegant packaging.

To make this favor your own, fill small cardboard boxes, alternating black and white, with paper confetti stuffing and individually wrapped candies. For high-end impact, think Godiva, but any sweets will do. Personalized M&M’s or candy-coated almonds wrapped in tulle are also favorite choices. A satin ribbon in white or black, for contrast, is then wrapped around each box and secured with a piece of double-sided tape. Two-tier, raised cardboard monograms of the couples initials, also in contrasting colors, complete the look. A more simple, monogram sticker or single square of cardboard stamped with the couples monogram will also work. Packaging materials can be purchased at arts and crafts retail locations or paper supply/packing material stores or online.

Chef Robert has been serving up his culinary masterpieces for over 20 years. He launched his career as a private airline chef for clients such as the Prince of Bernai, Larry Flynt, Tipper Gore and many more public figures. He has also catered an expansive array of social, corporate and fundraising events.

He hasn’t only cooked for celebrities, but has also cooked with them. He has
worked with industry celebrities such as Wolfgang Puck, Mark Miller of Coyote Café, Charlie Trotter and Alex Garcia.

And now, Chef Robert is serving up his exceptional ideas in taste, flavor and presentation for Las Vegas brides at MEET!

Casey, a newlywed bride, commended Chef Robert and the delicious menu he created for her October wedding at MEET Las Vegas, “Chef Robert and Elite Catering were great. They were able to accommodate our budget and provide us with hand-passed hors d’ oeuvres as well as a menu enhance the lounge feel of the reception.”

Wedding Congratulations to Michael and Brittany!

Congratulations to Michael and Brittany who celebrated their wedding at MEET Las Vegas on October 16th, 2010!

The Wedding Event

Michael and Brittany were wed at an off-site location. Following the ceremony, their friends and family arrived at MEET for the reception. A bus filled with the wedding party pulled into the outdoor pavilion, and the bride and groom made their grand entrance into the first floor showroom. Buffet-style dinner options from MEET’s social events menu were served shortly after. Guests chose from a variety of options for their meal, including traditional comfort foods such as beef brisket with mashed potatoes, as well as internationally flavored dishes, such as Mexican-inspired tequila-lime chicken breast and Tuscan-style ricotta cheese ravioli, penne, and tortellini pasta. For the duration of the night, double doors between the outdoor pavilion and the first floor showroom remained open to allow guests to freely flow between the two spaces. A back-to-back bar was set up in this area to serve guests both inside and out.

Design Details

The wedding reception was very traditional in design with MEET’s modern lighting elements adding a modern twist. Round tables with MEET’s stock pewter chairs were set with ivory linens and sheer ivory overlays. Two runners were placed down the center of the tables in moss green and burgundy with centerpieces of green hydrangeas, burgundy roses and candles. Outside on the pavilion, a cocktail area was set up with furniture including sofas provided by Lounge 22 furniture powered by Cort and glass-topped highboy cocktail tables.

MEET’s Martin Cyclo lighting technology was utilized to create different moods throughout the evening. Tinted, soft pink lighting was used during the cocktail hour, as guests waited for the bridal party to arrive. For Brittany and Michael’s entrance, lights moved to the beat of the music playing and flashed in a variety of colors. The lights were then dimmed to a deep purple for dining. During the father-daughter dance to “Cinderella” by Steven Curtis-Chapman, the lighting over the dance area turned pink, and was then changed to blue and green for the mother-son dance. Freeman technology was also used to add colored, patterned gobos to the walls. MEET’s built-in fog wall was also utilized during the wedding, displaying Michael and Brittany’s names with a calla lily floral graphic. A projector was used to display on the wall, a large-scale slideshow of images of the happy couple throughout their years together, complete with romantic quotes.

Congratulations to Darrel and Casey who happily wed at MEET Las Vegas on September 25^th, 2010!

The Wedding Event

This fabulous couple held their wedding ceremony and reception for over 100 guests in MEET’s first floor showroom, with use of the outdoor pavilion. Guests entered the ceremony space from the entrance on

4^th Street

off the pavilion. The room was initially set for the ceremony, and partially set for reception.

Following the ceremony, as the wedding party took photographs, guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres outside on the pavilion. Afterwards, guests re-entered the showroom to find it set for the reception with white tables and silver chairs for dining and a lounge area with white leather furniture and a dance floor. After dining on light buffet-style foods from MEET’s Social Events Menu, such as a mashed potato bar and Swedish meatballs, guests moved to the lounge area for dancing and celebrating.

For dessert, instead of serving cake, Darrel and Casey served ice-cream from a retro ice cream truck parked outside on the pavilion. Guests watched as the bride and groom fed each other spoonfuls of ice cream. Then the happy newlyweds jumped on the truck and sped off into the night!

Design Details

The atmosphere for Darrel and Casey’s special day was created using contemporary design elements. Specialty lighting options provided by MEET preferred vendor, Freeman, and liquid silver chain from MEET preferred vendor, Dazian, was key to setting the mood for the ceremony and reception. The aisle at the ceremony was framed with vases of fresh orchids and lit candles. As the couple said their vows, a custom monogram lit up the room from above the couple on the silver chain background.

The couple chose cool whites and silvers as their main palette, with touches of teal and purple in the fine details such as the peacock feathers used in their centerpieces and in the Freeman lighting which was used to add color and pattern to the walls throughout the reception. The modern feel for their event was also created through the use of MEET’s Lounge 22 furniture (powered by CORT), and by the bride and groom’s choice to not use linens. Overall the wedding was modern, fresh and unique.

Congratulations to Darrel and Casey who will celebrate their wedding at MEET Las Vegas on September 25^th, 2010.

The Bride and Groom

Darrel and Casey met in Cedar City, Utah in 2005 at the Utah Shakespearean Festival. The two recent college graduates were both working at the festival, and as fate would have it, they were both living in company housing. Casey had just met Darrel’s roommate and was visiting him when she met Darrel. At the start, Darrel actually thought Casey and his roommate were dating! But that idea didn’t last long. Over the next two days, Darrel and Casey got to know each other while spending time with a group of new friends they had met while working at the festival. Each night, Darrel and Casey were always the last two up, laughing and talking until the wee hours of the morning. The chemistry between this pair was then, as it is now, undeniable. By the third night, Darrel sealed the deal with a kiss, and they have been happily together ever since.

The Proposal

Darrel proposed to Casey on Christmas Eve on a ski lift in Mount Charleston just outside of Las Vegas. Risking dropping the ring into the snow below them, he said, "I can't get down on my knee, but will you marry me?" Casey of course said, “Yes!” But she also made him get down on one knee as soon as they got off the lift. Darrel, of course, happily obliged.

The Wedding Plans

When the couple began their search for the perfect wedding venue, they were looking for something unique; a venue that was completely different and non-traditional. Casey was excited about MEET when she found it online, but; unfortunately, it was before it had opened, so they wound up booking their event at another location. Meanwhile, in another twist of fate, Darrel signed on as a lighting consultant/programmer for MEET and became very familiar with the space and all the custom possibilities it offered. When their original location cancelled on them, MEET was happy to have this couple as the first to marry at MEET. As Casey said, “MEET ended up being exactly what I wanted, a blank canvas that I could do whatever I wanted with.” The couple loves how MEET has been transformed from an old bank into an amazing new event space.

Michael and Brittany ~ October 16th, 2010

Congratulations to Michael and Brittany who will celebrate their wedding at MEET Las Vegas on October 16th, 2010.

The Bride and Groom
Las Vegas natives, Michael and Brittany knew each other in high school, but didn’t start dating until after they had both graduated. The couple has been happily together for over three years now and can’t wait to tie the knot! Brittany is thrilled to be marrying Michael and to “just be able to know you have the support of that one person to lean on for everything for the rest of your life.” Both family-oriented, they are especially looking forward to starting a family of their own.

The Proposal
Michael and Brittany got engaged over a very special 4th of July weekend, spent with Michael’s family at their cabin in Utah. On the morning of the 4th, Michael and Brittany took off in their quads to a romantic spot that Michael had scouted earlier. On a platform overlooking the landscape and cabin below, Michael got down on one knee and popped the big question. A very surprised Brittany happily exclaimed, “YES!”

The proposal was a surprise to the bride-to-be, but was no surprise to their families. Both Michael and Brittany’s families were in on his plans. In fact, knowing Michael’s intentions, when Brittany almost did not make the trip to Utah that weekend, her parents talked her into going to ensure Michael’s proposal would go as planned, without a hitch. After the proposal, when the happy couple returned to the cabin, Michael’s family was waiting for them with cameras and camcorders in hand and champagne ready to pop.

The Wedding Plans
Brittany said that she has been surprised at how easy planning her dream wedding has been. Her heart was originally set on another Las Vegas venue, when her mother told her about MEET. They drove over and as Brittany explains, “Completely fell in love with the building! My jaw dropped when I saw it for the first time!” What she loves most about the building is that it is so contemporary and up-to-date. She said, “When you think of downtown Las Vegas, a lot of places are old-fashioned, but not MEET. The building is amazing! It is so completely different than any other venue in the area!” The couple is most excited about the lighting design elements at MEET. They plan to light up the entire building using all of the many color options available. The couple and their large Mexican families are very close so the wedding celebration will be big, with over 230 guests invited.

Under the shining sun or sparkling stars MEET's open air pavilion is an amazing spot for ceremonies and receptions. The pavilion can be tented and is an excellent location for exterior live music during your event. The second floor also provides an intimate, customizable space for ceremonies and receptions. Bridal quarters are available for getting ready or for the couple to steal a private moment for themselves during the event.
